I'm about 90% sure he is a Ridgeback, which is an uncommon breed. He has a ridge of fur stretching from the top of his head, down his back, and hair growing backwards on his toes, which is a good way to identify them. Not sure if they are strictly that colour or not, I never saw his parents, so I can't say for sure where he got the colouration from.
